1.0 Introduction

The IPParalegal Institute connects professionals worldwide to the research and teaching of the Institute's faculty and their decades of IP industry expertise as both front line paralegals and experienced educators.

Qualified individuals may enroll in programs for Paralegal Certificates in the IP, Patent and Trademark Prosecution areas; pursue Certificates of Specialized Study in a number of intellectual property prosecution disciplines, take individual webinars and seminars for non-certificate study, or apply for customized training. Courses are delivered online or at the work site if it is in the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas Metroplex area.

Working closely within the American Bar Association's Patent Legislation Committee, the Paralegal Division of the Texas State Bar, and with the help and guidance of major university academia focusing on eLearning and progress assessment systems, the IPParalegal Institute's goals are to develop and administer concentrated leading-edge intellectual property prosecution curriculums.

The Institute's programs and courses serve as independent study certificate conferrals, as complimentary matriculation studies for Associate and Undergraduate Paralegal Studies degree programs; and as advanced study components which ultimates, for the IP prosecution professional, existing Paralegal Certification programs that are in conformance with NALA certification rules and guidelines.

2.0 Course Classifications

There are three classifications of intellectual property prosecution curriculum at The IPParalegal Institute:

  • Certificate of Specialized Study Courses;
  • Certificate of Graduation Programs; and
  • Professional Development Courses/Classes.

3.0 Certificate of Specialized Study Courses

Available delivery methods: online live (graded) | online self-paced (graded) | on site

IPParalegal Institute Certificate of Specialized Study Courses are attended by Paralegal Certificate students. Each course is comprised of multiple sessions whose curriculum is concentrated on a single IP prosecution discipline. Successful completion of an Intellectual Property Prosecution Certificate of Specialization Course awards the student with a certificate of specialization in the course's focus discipline.

  • PCT101: Patent Cooperation Forms & Filing Fundamentals

  • FPF101: Foreign Patent Forms, Filing & Prosecution Fundamentals
  • TPF101: Trademark Forms, Filing & Prosecution Fundamentals
  • CPF101: Copyright Forms, Filing & Prosecution Fundamentals

The conferral of a Certificate of Specialized Study requires the successful completion of all course requirements per section 4.0 of the Institute's Policies.

4.0 Certificate of Graduation Programs

IPParalegal Institute Paralegal Certificate Programs are attended by Paralegal Certificate students. Certificate programs are comprised of Intellectual Property Prosecution Paralegal Certificate of Specialized Study Courses. Successful completion of an IPParalegal Institute Paralegal Certificate Program rewards the student with a paralegal Certificate of Graduation in the program's field of study.

There are three Paralegal Certificate Programs offered at the IPParalegal Institute:

  • Patent Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program
  • Trademark Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program
  • Intellectual Property Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program
The Institute's Patent Prosecution Paralegal Certificate and IP Prosecution Paralegal Certifcate are two of the industry's most prestigious education credentials for nonlawyer professionals in their respective fields.

4.0.1 The Patent Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program (PPPCP) Track

Certificate Conferred: Patent Prosecution Paralegal Certificate

  • is a technical education program comprised of the following requisite courses:
    • IPP101: Ethics, Billing & Administration Fundamentals
    • PPF101: U.S. Patent Forms & Filing Fundamentals
    • PPF102: U.S. Patent Prosecution
    • PCT101: Patent Cooperation Treaty Forms & Filing Fundamentals
    • PCT102: PCT Prosecution
    • FPF101: Foreign Patent Filing

Successful completion of all the above requisite courses is required to receive the IPParalegal Institute's Patent Prosecution Paralegal Certificate.

4.0.2 The Trademark Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program (TPPCP) Track

Certificate Conferred: Trademark Prosecution Paralegal Certificate

  • is a technical education program comprised of the following requisite courses:
    • IPP101: Ethics, Billing & Administration Fundamentals
    • TPF101: Trademark Filing & Prosecution Fundamentals

Successful completion of all the above requisite courses is required to receive the IPParalegal Institute's Trademark Prosecution Paralegal Certificate.

4.0.3 The Intellectual Property Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program (IPPCP) Track

Certificate Conferred: Intellectual Property Prosecution Paralegal Certificate

  • is a technical intellectual property prosecution education program which requires successful completion of the following requisite programs:
    • PPPCP: Patent Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program
    • TPPCP: Trademark Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program
    • CPPCP: Copyright Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program

The Intellectual Property Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program confers the Intellectual Property Prosecution Paralegal Certificate to students who successfully complete: the Patent Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program, the Trademark Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program, and the Copyright Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program.

PROGRAM NOTE: the IPP101: IP Paralegal Ethics, Billing & Administration Fundamentals course is a requisite course for all three program tracks. However, for successful completion of the Intellectual Property Prosecution Paralegal Certificate Program, the IPP101: IP Paralegal Ethics, Billing & Administration Fundamentals course need only be passed once.

5.0 IP Professional Development Courses/Classes

Certificate Conferred: Certificate of Attendance upon completion.

These courses may be taken live online or live at your work site, streamed from our extensive digital library, as well as licensed for resale or self-paced distribution.
